Environmental protection Since July 2008, our packages have been shipped with Deutsche Post DHL's carbon neutral GoGreen programme. The carbon footprint resulting from transport activities is compensated for by certified climate protection projects, e.g. through the reafforestation of illegally plundered rainforests or via solar energy projects.
Social commitment is also a matter of great importance to us: Melro's Best® regularly supports projects, which champion the region and take a stand for people in crisis situations. Here, we would like to introduce you to a few projects, whose commitment we promote.
Die Arche (The Ark)
he children's and young persons' charity, "Die Arche," campaigns against child poverty. It provides a free lunch, organises extracurricular tutorials for school children, and is committed to the prevention of child and youth labour. Berliner Tafel (Berlin Dinner Table)
"All children and young people are welcome!" is the fundamental principle behind the work of the children's and young persons' charity, Berliner Tafel. Their educational approach lies in showing their young guests how wonderful it is to eat together, acquainting them with new foods, teaching them the correct way to use a knife and fork, and demonstrating that table manners are neither needless nor complicated. It makes no difference how much money their parents have; all children are welcomed with open arms into the children's restaurants of Berliner Tafel e.V., irrespective of their social backgrounds! Malteser Familienzentrum Manna (The Manna Family Centre of the Order of Malta)
Families are constantly faced with ever-changing challenges in today's society. Problems such as time famine, poverty and violence are frequent attendants in the everyday life of children and young people. Parents are often helpless when confronted with these situations. With the Manna Family Centre in the Berlin district of Neukölln, the German branch of the Order of Malta has created a new contact point for the accompaniment and support of children and families in their everyday lives.
Die „Berliner Stadtmission - Obdachlose“ (Berlin City Mission for the Homeless)
The department of the Berlin City Mission for the Homeless takes care of the bodily and spiritual well-being of homeless people, within the framework of several projects. Anyone who needs a free meal, somewhere to sleep, or even just spiritual succour and consolation is welcome here at all times.
