The Melro’s Best® Pineapple Plantation in Malaysia
The Melro’s Best® pineapple plantation is located in the south of Peninsular Malaysia. The workers and employees on our plantation live with their families in their own homes in the plantation village. They have their own kindergarten, a primary school and a hospital. As religion plays an important role in their lives, houses of worship, such as temples and mosques, have been built for the various ethnic groups.There is a very strong bond to the company and the majority of the employees will be there until retirement. However, we naturally also feel obligated to our employees. As a family business, we place great value on fair working conditions and social benefits. Among others, these include an 8-hour day, a 5-day week, and wages commensurate with those a worker would receive in Germany.
Melro’s Best® supports the expansion of the local infrastructure and promotes its cultural and educational facilities, for example, by equipping a modern computer suite in the village primary school.

Incidentally, Malaysia is not a developing nation, like other states in Southeast Asia, but rather one that is highly developed in some areas. Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur, boasts one of the world's most modern airports, as well as astonishing architectural masterpieces, such as the PETRONAS Twin Towers. Malaysia is well known for its very progressive economic and educational policies and has a low unemployment rate. On the other hand, there are still untouched landscapes, magnificent beaches and the people have retained their hospitality and proverbial Asian cordiality.
